UPVC Repair & Replacement
What is a fascia board?
A fascia board is the long, straight board that runs along the lower edge of the roof. The fascia is fixed directly to the lower ends of the roof trusses and usually does all the work of supporting the lower edge of the bottom row of tiles.
What is a soffit board?
The soffit board is tucked away under the fascia board. It is usually the board that you see most of from street level.
Soffits serves both an aesthetic and functional purpose for a building’s roofing system. It’s the skin that covers your eaves — without it, you would see your rafter beams fully exposed. Cover it up with soffit, in the style and colour that you like, and you add some instant and easy character to your building while providing protection against animal ingress and weathering.
Why replace them?
If your fascia and soffits are made from softwood they will decay and deteriorate over time, however well maintained they have been. They will eventually fail to do the job they were installed for.
There is two ways to make sure this does not happen.
First you can slow the rate of deterioration buy covering the wooden board with upvc over board
This is often done as it’s the cheapest option, be aware the rot continues but the wood now covered is subjected to significantly less weather if any at all.
Secondly you can replace the whole of the fascia and soffit with new wood or pvc (colour choice available) this is costlier of the two and takes much more time however provides the best possible fix.
